The Old Barracks
info@oldbarracks.ieThe Old Barracks Restaurant, Guesthouse & Bakery is situated at Cross St. Athenry. The Restaurant is owned by Fiona King, but was developed by her late husband Cathal O’ Malley.
The business began in October 2010, although the Barracks building itself has been owned by Fiona’s family since 1988. It was purchased by Fiona’s parents, Charlie and Mary King of Bawnmore, Athenry with the winnings from that years Galway Plate, which was won by their horse “Afford A King”. The Barracks itsself was originally an RIC barracks and later taken on by the FCA.
The award-winning restaurant has been serving up top-quality breakfast, lunch, and dinners for years. It’s a place known for its fantastic locally inspired menus, by chefs Tony & Brid in the Kitchen.
