Sliabh Aughty Honey

Leahy Beekeeping from Loughrea, Co. Galway in the West of Ireland are located in the Sliabh Aughty Mountain. They are a family run business with a proud tradition of beekeeping dating back four generations. The land on the mountain is natural and unspoiled with lush meadows, wild flowers and herbs, raised bog areas covered with purple heather and bog cotton. A large proportion of the mountain is now an area of conservation. The honey itself is 100% raw, single filtered and unpasteurized retaining all the pollen’s medicinal properties.

Experience: Tour the Sliabh Aughty Mountains with Noel to discover the inner workings of a hive and the process of honey making. Sample the top-quality products. This is a hands-on tour where you will put on a bee suit and see the hive close up. Tour cost €50 per person.

Tours can be booked by phoning or emailing Noel and are also bookable on the Leahy Beekeeping Airbnb page. A variety of honey and related natural products can be purchased online.
